Typical Dances of Pueto Rico

Merengue is a type of music and dance in which one foot marks time and the other is dragged on the ground. And quite popular in many Latin countries such as Puerto Rico, Haiti, Venezuela, Colombia and is the national dance of the Dominican Republic. It is also widely known in Angola as its origin is African and was carried by slaves from Africa (Angola) 1 for the new territories of the Americas. The most popular style of merengue is usually played by a wide range of instruments including various saxophones, accordions, trumpets and keyboards, with singers entertaining. Level choreography, merengue features easy and quick steps, danced by couples entwined.
